| The ratio of outer diameter to inner diameter (Do/ Di) at a given center line distance determines the free volume of completely intermeshing co-rotating twin screws. |

Due to its wide molecular weight distribu-tion, bimodal Polyethylene requires more homogenization, i.e. the long-chained molecules, responsible for the strength of the end product must be incorporated homogeneously into the short-chained molecular matrix, which influences the processability of the melt phase. The ZSK NT, a cascade arrangement consisting of two ZSK MEGA-compounders, is ideally suited for this pro-cess task.
In the first ZSK the polymer is melted at a high screw speed and in the sec-ond ZSK the different polymer viscosities are mixed homogeneously at low speed. First-class homogeneity is achieved with this technology, which can also be used for fu-ture products with an even wider molecular weight distribution.
