The need to remove volatile matter from liquefied polymers has long been a preoccupation of process technology and has been the subject of wide-ranging intensification of efforts in recent years.
Increased requirements in terms of purity and appearance of products demand effective degassing. High-output machines in particular present special challenges for degassing, due to the short hold time of the liquefied material in the extruder.
| Use | | |
The twin-screw side degassing unit is used in high-output and rapidly rolling products, such as food, high-fill (TK and TPE) and in chemical applications.
| Machinery | | |
The twin-screw side degassing unit is based on components from the twin-screw side feeder and was optimized for the task of degassing.
The main focus was on rapid assembly/disassembly, simple cleaning and high levels of flexibility.
The modular construction with quick-action locks on the gearbox and degassing unit allows for rapid re-equipping.
| Mounting | | |
The unit is mounted to the side of the extruder, either with a moving base frame on rollers or with a swivel arm.
Furthermore, there is the option of also operating the twin-screw side degassing unit vertically above the main extruder. To that end, it is possible to re-equip the existing open housing with an insert.
