>> Economical production of adhesives with twin screw extruders from Coperion.
Compounding of adhesives
Adhesives are characterized by the fact that they adhere simply by pressing together the parts of the joint which require bonding and that they retain this adhesive effect permanently at room temperature. Twin screw extruders from Coperion have been used successfully for many years in the production of contact adhesives and melt adhesives.
Typical set-up of a plant for the production of pressure-sensitive adhesives
The elastomers are fed gravimetrically individually or pre-mixed into the infeed barrel. After plasticizing / masticating and compounding of the different rubbers, the resins (solid or liquid) and softeners / oils are mixed in free from fibers downstream, in large batches in partial streams through several kneading and homogenization stages.
Process steps such as the devolatilization of air and volatile components or the straining of the finished compound follow depending on the further processing.
