Compounding of bio-based plastics

Bio-based plastics refer to plastics produced on the basis of renewable raw materials. In addition to the classic engineering plastics such as PE, PP and PA, bio-based plastics can also be processed with twin screw extruders from Coperion. Bio-based plastics have compounding properties similar to conventional plastics so that Coperion has access to extensive know-how. They can be reinforced with natural fibers for example and therefore be processed into a sustainable material.

The modular structure of the process section enables the individual configuration of the twin screw extruder to every application. We design all the process steps: dosing, raw materials feeding, conveying, melting, dispersing, homogenizing, devolatilizing, pressure build-up, filtering and pelletizing exactly to the requirements of the bio-based plastic. The quality of the end product is always the center of focus.
