Coperion ZSK 34 Extruder

Coperion and Coperion K-Tron at the Anuga FoodTec 2015

Innovative Solutions for Food and Pet Food Processing

Stuttgart, February 2015 – At Anuga FoodTec 2015, Coperion and Coperion K-Tron will present themselves as innovative system providers for the production of food and pet food at booth no. C 020 in hall 10.1. The focus will be on a complete processing system for the production of high-quality meat substitutes. This includes a manual bag dump station and a sanitary P10 vacuum receiver for the pneumatic conveying of raw materials into a KT20 twin screw loss-in-weight feeder, as well as a ZSK 27 Mv PLUS twin screw extruder. The extruder with a screw diameter of 27 mm is equipped with an innovative cooling die provided by the German Institute of Food Technologies (DIL), designed specifically for the processing of texturized protein. Other highlights on show will include the ZRD and ZXD hygienic rotary valves and the CIP-compatible (clean-in-place) and EHEDG-certified WKY diverter valve.

Manual Bag Dump Station and P10 Vacuum Separator

At Anuga FoodTec, Coperion K-Tron will exhibit a manual bag dump station for clean and dust-free unloading of bulk materials from bags. This bag dump station is complemented by a Coperion ZXD 200 rotary valve with FXS (Full Access System) for optimal chamber emptying, featuring a specially designed blow-through channel, ideal for poorly flowing products, and an especially large inlet for high throughputs. Coperion K‑Tron manufactures bag dump stations in various configurations. The equipment is designed to meet strict hygiene requirements and is optionally available with CIP cleaning systems or a fluidizing cone. The fluidizing cone is made from FDA-approved plastic and improves the material flow.

Coperion K-Tron will also exhibit a sanitary P10 vacuum receiver for easy refilling of feeders. The P-series separators and suction conveyors perform conveying tasks under difficult conditions. The high production standard meets the strict requirements of the food industry. Special design features include the steep cone angles to ensure excellent discharge and band clamps for quick disassembly.

KT20 Twin Screw Loss-in-Weight Feeder

With the KT20 twin screw loss-in-weight feeder, Coperion K-Tron will be showcasing a prime example of its high-precision loss-in-weight feeders for precise feeding immediately after material conveying. Coperion K-Tron offers a wide range of feeding solutions for many applications, for continuous and batch feeding of materials with constant flow characteristics and particle sizes as well as for pre-feeding. The modular screw feeders are available with a variety of interchangeable components. Single screw feeders are suitable for free-flowing materials, such as pellets. Twin screw feeders are used for poor-flowing materials, such as pigments, sticky or flooding powders and fibers. With the aid of the KT20 twin screw loss-in-weight feeder, the complete feed system is continuously weighed and the weight loss rate regulated so that the desired feed rate is achieved and the direct entry of the product into the extruder is guaranteed.

ZSK 27 Mv PLUS Laboratory Extruder

With the ZSK 27 Mv PLUS, Coperion will exhibit a twin screw laboratory extruder which meets the strict hygiene requirements of the food industry. The processing section of the ZSK consists of several modular barrels in which two screws co-rotate. The closely intermeshing screws with a very tight self-wiping profile prevent low-flow zones from occurring over the entire length of the process section and ensure optimal self-cleaning. With the extraordinary combination of high free screw volume, a screw speed of up to 1800 rpm, and a torque of 11.3 Nm/cm³, the ZSK Mv PLUS series offers ideal conditions for the extrusion of a variety of foods and pet foods.

The ZSK 27 Mv PLUS is equipped with a cooling die provided by the German Institute of Food Technologies (DIL). This has been specially developed for the production of texturized protein meat substitute. The DIL will be receiving the International FoodTec Award in Gold at Anuga FoodTec for a plant concept consisting of the elements feeder, extruder, cooling die, and cutting device.

ZRD and ZXD Hygienic Rotary Valve and WYK Diverter Valve

Coperion will also exhibit three bulk materials components that meet the strictest hygiene requirements: a ZXD 200 rotary valve with FXS (Full Access System), as well as a ZRD 150 rotary valve and a WYK diverter valve, both in CIP design. The ZRD and ZXD hygienic rotary valves are used in pneumatic conveying systems and for the discharge of powdered and pelletized materials. The rotary valves are smooth-surfaced, free of dead spots, and manufactured completely in stainless steel. The fully-automatic CIP capability saves time on cleaning and therefore reduces costs. The ZXD 200 rotary valve is equipped with the innovative and service-proven FXS technology. This enables easy withdrawal of the rotor, as both side covers can be swung out to an angle of over 90°, making the interior of the rotary valve fully accessible. The WKY diverter valve is also made of stainless steel. It is available in hygienic CIP design, suitable for wet cleaning, and can be installed in conveyor lines and downpipes up to 5 bar.

Highly Accurate Micro-Ingredient Feeders

Coperion K-Tron’s family of twin and single screw Microfeeders is specially designed to provide maximum accuracy at minimal feed rates, which makes these feeders ideal for use in the chemical and pharmaceutical processing industries. Unique design features ensure that high value ingredients are fed accurately at rates as low as 32 g/hr with minimal residual material left in the feeder. The modular design means more flexibility for the process and easy access to all parts for cleaning and maintenance. The 12 mm and 16 mm twin and single screw feeding modules are completely interchangeable and feed a wide range of free-flowing to difficult powders.
