Innovative Equipment for Both Batch and Continuous Processing

Coperion FHN – Food, Health and Nutrition Division

Coperion is proud to announce the addition of the Schenck Process Food and Performance Materials (FPM) line of hygienically designed systems and solutions to our existing operating entities.  As shared in a previous newsletter, our recently formed Coperion Food, Health and Nutrition, or FHN, Division had previously added the established brands of DIOSNA, VMI and Gabler Engineering to its portfolio of premium technologies for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries. The addition of the Schenck Process FPM line of innovative systems greatly expands our application expertise and equipment depth to address both continuous and batch pharmaceutical, as well as nutraceutical applications.

Schenck Process FPM’s expansive offering includes innovations such as sanitary side access filter receivers, the PureFeed AP-300 feeder and the complete line of Kemutec size reduction and cone mills. In addition, the Mucon line of sanitary butterfly valves and oscillating dosing valves are ideal components to be supplied either as stand-alone components or integrated into Coperion pharmaceutical and nutraceutical systems.

With this acquisition, Coperion now offers a broader range of innovative solutions to the market, addressing a wide variety of challenges and needs faced by pharmaceutical processors.  For batch manufacturing, the technical solutions provided by DIOSNA in both wet granulation and fluid bed drying, can now include Kemutec cone mills for both de-lumping the product after granulating and sizing the product post drying. In addition, spheronizers and coating pans provided by Gabler are ideal for a complete integrated process line for capsules or coated tablets. Finally, Kemutec’s air classifying mills and universal pin mills are ideal for the size reduction of API’s before tableting operations. For operations involving emulsifications or homogenizations, VMI’s extensive product portfolio ensures the proper technology is applied for premium efficiency and product quality.

Coperion continues to be at the forefront of continuous processing applications. Our state-of-the-art Coperion K-Tron loss-in-weight feeders and P-Series line of sanitary pneumatic conveyors are currently used in a wide variety of validated continuous operations, including direct compression, wet and dry granulations, and hot melt and wet extrusions. Coperion and Gabler Engineering both offer hygienic extruders that are ideal for high potency hot melt extrusion applications. In addition, the Gabler hygienic clamshell extruder design as well as the Baker Perkins line of extruders and depositor, technologies acquired through Schenck Process FPM, are ideal for applications such as production of medicinal and nutraceutical gum/jelly-based products. Finally, the addition of the Schenck Process FPM line of high-volume conveying systems and components for hygienic applications further expands our ability to provide excipient and raw material convey systems for vitamin and supplement applications.

These combined innovations from trusted technology brands, enables the Coperion FHN Division to truly deliver one of our core objectives – to Shape What Matters for TomorrowTM.  The ability to provide completely integrated systems from a single source ensures that total ownership of the system is guaranteed, and the most efficient and safe process solution is provided. In addition, our expansive global service network provides a continued high level of service, technical expertise, and training for all the technologies in the process.
