Small ZSK Extruders Now with New Feeding Platform: Greater Flexibility in Research and Development

Innovation in twin screw extrusion technology: a new, patent-pending feeding platform that has already proven its worth with the ZSK 18 MEGAlab laboratory extruder is now also available for ZSK 26 Mc¹⁸ and ZSK 27 Mv¹⁴ twin screw extruders.

The advanced feeding platform sets new standards in terms of flexibility and efficiency, providing significant operational benefits.

The innovative feeding platform is mounted to the ZSK twin screw extruders, can be attached to either side of the extruder, facilitating maximum flexible positioning of up to four feeders. The feeders can be moved along the process section and can be attached to all barrels as well as to the ZS-B side feeders. In addition, all feeders can be rotated, allowing for optimal placement based on specific process requirements.

This development offers decisive advantages, especially in research, development, and applications with frequent recipe changes: Ingredients can now be added flexibly at different points along the process line with precise control, according to the specific needs of each production run. Time-consuming conversions when changing recipes or bulky additional base frames are now a thing of the past.

Another advantage is simplified cleaning. The new platform allows feeders to be easily swiveled outward, making them very easy to access and clean.

Whereas previously a separate base platform was required for each feeder, now two feeders can be mounted on the feeding platform on each side of the extruder and positioned freely – without time-consuming additional solutions or modifications. This not only increases flexibility, but also significantly improves the overall efficiency of the entire process.

The new feeding platform for small ZSK sizes is available in two versions:

  • A high-end version with quick-release fasteners and absolutely infinitely adjustable feeder positioning for maximum flexibility. In this version, the feeders are not only rotatable, but also height-adjustable.
  • A more cost-effective version with a predefined grid for fixed feeder positions – ideal if the basic setup remains the same for different recipes. In this grid version, the feeders can be rotated for cleaning and refilling.

With the new feeding platform, Coperion presents a carefully designed solution that elevates flexibility, efficiency, and user-friendliness to an entirely new standard.
