National Centers of Excellence in Advanced and Continuous Manufacturing

Cordial Invitation

National Centers of Excellence in Advanced and Continuous Manufacturing

We are inviting you to participate in a major initiative: the National Centers of Excellence in Advanced and Continuous Manufacturing, to be designated by the FDA later this year.

As many of you are well aware, Coperion K-Tron feeders and Coperion extruders play an important role in many global pharmaceutical continuous processes. For this reason, we are very proud to announce the opportunity for participation to one of the events, to be held by National Centers of Excellence in Advanced and Continuous Manufacturing later this year. These events will present the initiative, answer questions, and provide input regarding the center’s scope, plans for workforce development, modes of industry participation, expectations on relationship with the FDA, and other critical aspects.

In order to be successful it is imperative, that important members of the pharmaceutical industry, such as yourselves, are involved in this initiative.

About Coperion, C-SOPS and NIPTE

The Center for Structured Organic Particulate Systems (C-SOPS) at Rutgers University and the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Technology Education (NIPTE) have joined forces.

C-SOPS is a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center that, in collaboration with more than 50 companies, developed, demonstrated, and transferred to industry the first commercial system for continuous direct compression that has become the only form of advanced manufacturing to be designated as a “graduate” from Emerging Technology FDA program.

Coperion together with further members of C-SOPS, as well as several major universities, have organized a series of events across the US. These events take place under the title National Centers of Excellence in Advanced and Continuous Manufacturing and are to be held in close collaboration with the industry and the FDA to:

  • Develop, demonstrate, and transfer new advanced and continuous manufacturing technologies and know-how to industry and the FDA
  • Accelerate pharmaceutical product and process development and facilitate regulatory evaluation
  • Create methodologies to maximize product quality
  • Design and implement a plan for developing a specialized workforce for advanced and continuous manufacturing.
